    i'll tell you how the doctor should feel if a patient seeks other opinions even though he or she
    thinks his way is right; RESPECTFUL of the patient no matter what. This is not about the doctor and
    his or her ego or need to control, but the patient trying to get well.and if that patient needs to
    seek a second, third, even fourth opinion, so be it.
    I do think the doctor is right to voice his or her opinion about the doctor his patient is seeing ,
    but never take out frustration on the patient. If doctor Shoemaker feels this other lyme doctor's
    appraoch isn't up to his standard he can say so and explain his point. Being rude to a patient will
    not convince them that your approach is best and it won't encourage the patient to return and most
    important it won't help the patient get well.
    As for the comments made by these ladies who saw Dr. Shoemaker, to say because they complain about
    demeanor and bedside manner they can't be sick is nothing more than creating a strawman to deflect
    from the issue which is patient care. while the cure is more important than bedside manner you can't
    keep the patient coming back for the cure if you upset the and they go somewhere else. Why should
    one have to choose either/or? what ever happened to good medical care along with preserving one's
    dignity? the same could be said about FF and Erik, are you really that sick since you have the time
    to come and defend your doctor?
    I think FF sounds very intelligent yet rude at the same time. "ff" is quick to react strongly and
    put down anyone who opposes his view.You sound like Dr. Shoemaker, damn are you doctor Shoemaker? I
    think you are. By the way Dr. Shoemaker, I did enjoy reading your books and they did help point me
    in the direction for Lyme treatment so people do listen to you but you need to tune up your attitude
    with patients and people. There are several good lyme doctors out there, you are not the only show
    in town, be competitive instead of combative.
