    Erik,

    How are you doing?

    I understand exactly what you are saying. After I found that JAMA article from Mayo regarding chronic
    sinusitis and fungal infection, I asked 4 doctors, including the ENT in whose office I read the JAMA
    while waiting for yet another appointment, if it were possible to have a fungal infection of the
    sinus; the response from all 4, including 2 ENTs, was an abrupt "NO".

    After reading up more on it, I realized that I had given enough clues for any of them to figure it out
    had they even been remotely trying to correctly diagnose me. Enough people that I respect have had
    abundant praise for Dr. Shoemaker that I only wish I had the funds to visit him.

    All must remember that the issue has now gained a patina of acceptance and authenticity that it didn't
    have before and few doctors were willing to address this; Shoemaker was one of the very first, thus
    putting himself out for peer skewering. Without him, and people like him, those of us that have
    suffered from this would still be clamoring to be heard, much less taken seriously.
