Re: Shoemaker, better CFS doctor than Dr. James Baranuik GU
Posted by Me2, another lymie on 4/06/08

I am glad I made it to Dr. Shoemaker's office. It was expensive but well worth every
penny. At Georgetown University, all they (Baraniuk and his residents) care about regarding CFS is to
    get grants
from the drug companies who manufacture antidepressants, NIH, and to get published so to make a name
    for himself (Dr.Baranuik).
On the other hand Dr. Shoemaker cares about solving our problems. He wanted to find out what was
making me sick, he is driven to find out the cause of the illness not to cover it up with
antidepressants and muscle relaxants like Dr. Baranuik. That is the treatment you get at Georgetown,
drugs and a CFS diagnosis,it is not all about fact finding.
I said "no" because I deserve better. What I found out from Dr. Shoemaker is that I had cigutera, lyme
and erlichiosis.I am 90% better today because of Dr. Shoemaker. He stood by me during the gruling Lyme
treatment but I got through it.
Thank you Dr. S! My parents and I are greatful for all your help.
Anyone reading this, if you are sick and you got the typical "cfs" treatment from Baranuik, leave his
practice and go to Dr. Shoemaker if you ever intend to get well. I have written to several other
patients who were helped by Dr. Shoemaker and not by other CFS doctors.
