my landlords (management) violated my rights to live in a
none, free of smoke, building. my rental/lease agreement
clearly says that there will be no smoking. the large sign
on the outside door says no smoking. the house notice says
no smoking. for over three months, i complained to
management and their bosses about this problems, but they
totally ignored me. from the end of march 2004,to the first
2-weeks in july, i had to breath, these toxic fumes in my
room. the bathroom that i was forced to share with a male,
and in the upstairs and downstairs hallways and lobbies.
my chest, my lungs, my eyes, my stomach were injured by all
of this toxic fumes.
i tried to hire 2 attorneys, but they would not take my case
because i didn't have the money. but, they did write a
letter each, saying that something needed to be done about
the smoking in the building. the first attorney told them
that they needed to have a designated smoking building to
settle the problem. but they never did get one. i still had
to suffer in my sleep at night and when i awokek, in the hot
weather. the second attorney wrote and told them, that they
could be sued because they violated my lease agreement. so
if they didn't want to be sued, they had better stop the
smoking. after this attorney sent a letter, in about three
days of less management moved 9 people from the building who
smoked.
since this time, there has been numerous retaliations
against me by the director, management and their workers. i
have no recourse but to sue...NONE AT ALL! I AM GOING TO
SUE, BECAUSE THE RETALIATIONS HAS NOT STOPPED. THEY WANT ME
TO GET INTO A FIGHT SO THAT I WILL BE EVICTED, BUT THAT IS
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, BECAUSE I AM GOING TO SUE IN THE US
FEDERAL COURTS. EVERY DAY, EVERY NIGHT, DURING ANYTIME THEY
FELT LIKE IT. THE MORE I COMPLAINED, THE MORE THEY SMOKED.
MANAGEMENT, DIRECTOR, ETAL, EVER CAME TO MY DOOR TO ASK ME
ANYTHING ABOUT MY COMPLAINTS FOR OVER THREE MONTHS. THEIR
OFFICES ARE A FEW FEET FROM THE BUILDING WHERE I LIVE. THEY
WOULD TELL ME THAT THEY CAME, BUT THEY COULD SMELL NO SMOKE.
I WOULD TELL THEM, SINCE I AM THE ONE COMPLAINING, WHY
DIDN'T YOU KNOCK ON MY DOOR. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY.
THEY CLAM UP ON MY QUESTIONS.
I WOULD FAX AND CALL THEIR BOSSES, IN INGLEWOOD TO REPORT
THEM MANY MANY TIMES. SO IN RETALIATION, THEY ARE CHARGING
ME FOR "VOICE MAIL" TO HARASS ME. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DONE
BEFORE. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE. I WANT AN ATTORNEY WHO KNOWS
ABOUT FILINING FEDERAL LAW SUITS FOR THIS DISCRIMINATION,
SEX DISCRIMINATION AND HOUSING DISCRIMINATION. I HAVE MY
LETTERS THAT I HAVE WRITTEN TO ALL OF THEM FOR OVER THREE
MONTHS. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME. IF YOU DO NOT THINK THAT I
SHOULD SUE OR THAT I DON'T HAVE A GOOD CASE TO SUE THESE
PEOPLE, PLEASE DRAW UP THE PLEADING AND OTHER FEDERAL PAPERS
THAT I NEED TO FILE IN COURT. THEN I WILL GO TO COURT ON MY
OWN. I NEED ALL OF MY PAPERS TO BE FILED IN A TIMELY ORDER
(BY ME IF NECESSARY), PREPARED IN A WAY THAT A FEDERAL JUSGE
WOULD HAVE THEM...NEAT AND IN ORDER. I HAVE THOUGHT I WILL
SUE...NO, I WON'T SUE...YES! NO! BUT THE RETALIATIONS WON'T
STOP AND I DON'T HAVE THE FIRST AND LAST MONTH RENT WITH THE
SECURITY DEPOSIT TO MOVE. SO I MUST STAY HERE AND FIGHT THEM
LEGALLY.
